Milwaukee 48-22-5230 is a 300-foot open reel long tape measure designed for heavy-duty layout work on construction sites where standard tape measures aren’t long enough.

It uses a 3/8" nylon-bond steel blade, which helps reduce stretch and improves accuracy over long distances. The blade is also designed to be kink-resistant, so it can handle rough jobsite use without easily deforming.

A key feature is Milwaukee’s Grime Guard™ blade wiper system, which helps keep dirt and debris from entering the reel housing. This reduces jams and improves long-term reliability in dusty or muddy environments.

The tape is built with 3:1 metal planetary gearing, which gives it a smoother and more durable rewind compared to cheaper open-reel tapes. It also includes a metal reinforced handle, making it more resistant to bending or breaking during fast rewinds.
