This type of core bit is built with a thicker steel barrel and reinforced carbide teeth, allowing it to withstand higher impact forces, heat, and abrasion generated by SDS-Max and spline-drive rotary hammers.
Unlike thin-wall core bits, the thick wall design provides increased durability and stability, making it ideal for hard aggregate, cured concrete, and demanding jobsite conditions.
The bit cuts a circular groove (kerf), leaving a solid core that must be removed periodically to continue drilling deeper.
āļø Key Features
-
Thick wall construction
Provides maximum strength for heavy-duty applications and longer bit life in hard materials -
Carbide-tipped cutting teeth
Engineered for high impact resistance and extended durability in reinforced concrete -
SDS-Max & spline compatibility
Designed for large rotary hammers with higher torque output -
Deeper cutting capacity
Typically ~4"ā4-3/8" usable depth (greater than thin wall bits) -
Modular system compatibility
Often used with adapter shanks, pilot bits, and extensions for deeper or more precise drilling
š ļø Typical Applications
-
Large conduit and pipe penetrations
-
Mechanical/HVAC openings
