WG ROMEX NMB 8/2

WG ROMEX NMB 8/2 is a standard electrical cable specification (this one is real and commonly used).

🔌 What it means

• WG → distributor/warehouse labeling (not part of NEC standard naming; often just inventory shorthand)
• ROMEX → trade name for nonmetallic-sheathed cable
• NMB (NM-B) → Non-Metallic Building wire, plastic-sheathed indoor cable
• 8/2 → cable configuration:
  • 8 AWG copper wire
  • 2 insulated conductors + ground
  • (typically black, white, plus bare copper ground)

⚡ What it’s used for

8/2 NM-B (Romex) is used for 240V circuits that do NOT require a neutral wire, such as:

• Other 240V-only loads

⚠️ Key difference: 8/2 vs 8/3

• 8/2 = 2 hot wires + ground (NO neutral)
• 8/3 = 2 hot wires + neutral + ground

So:

• 8/2 = straight 240V load only
• 8/3 = 240V + 120V or electronics requiring neutral
